    Ray Walshe is a Funded Investigator (FI) in the Insight Centre for Data Analytics in Dublin City University. He runs Big Data projects in the areas of Health/Human Performance, Power Electronics and Personal Communication Platforms. Ray is a recognised expert in Big Data Standards where he some of his work includes : – Lead Editor of ISO WG9 Big Data Standards, –  Head of Ireland Delegation for Big Data at NSAI, – Member of Cloud Select Industry Group (C-SIG) for DG-CNECT, Software and Services, Cloud Unit at European Commission , – Steering Board member for  NetWorld2020, the European Technology Platform for communications networks and services, – Rapporteur for FOG Computing White Paper for European Standards Development Organisation (ETSI).
    Ray’s other passion involves Startup Companies. Startup activities include: – for the European Commission he is Coordinator for Startup Europe Week activities in Ireland, –  He is the Founder of Spark2Start a startup ecosystem event, – Leads the SEC2U and Startup Europe University Network initiatives for Ireland,  –  Works with Startup Companies in Insight Centre for Data Analytics, – Chief Architect for a number of Startups.

    Big Data and Standards

    Presentation Synopsis-

    Rays talk will describe the current European Commission vision and initiatives

    for Big Data future trends, introduce the Digital Single market and discuss the

    EC workshop on Standards and Interoperability for European Data Economy.

    Describe the role of the BDVA (Big Data Value Association) and Ray’s work as Chair

    of the standardisation Working Group on Big Data

    Look at some British, German and French National Projects on Big Data Standards

    and the CEN Workshop on unique Identifier for Personal Data Usage Control in Big Data

    Global Big Data STandards work.
